Frequently answered questions
Straight answers for operators sizing up ATS: what it does, how fast you go live, what it connects to, and what it costs.
FAQ
What does ATS actually do?
ATS gives transloading operations one system to run the whole yard. You track containers and railcars, manage inventory, run mobile inspections, schedule cleaning and dispatch, and pull the reports your customers ask for, all in one place. It replaces the patchwork of spreadsheets, whiteboards, and clipboards most yards rely on, so your team works from a single source of truth instead of chasing updates across five different tools.
Is this built for transloading, or is it generic logistics software?
It is built specifically for transloading. We have worked in this industry since 1997, and every workflow, screen, and report has been shaped by operators who actually run yards. Generic logistics tools force you to bend your operation around the software. We do the opposite, fitting the system to how your yard already works, so adoption is faster and your team spends less time fighting the tool and more time moving freight.
Who is ATS built for?
ATS serves transload yards, distribution warehouses, and container depots, from single-site operators to multi-yard networks. It is a strong fit for teams that have outgrown spreadsheets and manual tracking, or that are stuck on aging legacy software or an off-the-shelf warehouse system that was never designed for transload work. If you move freight between rail, truck, and storage, the platform was built around your day-to-day.
How long has ATS been around?
Since 1995. We took on our first transloading client in 1997, and they are still with us today. That is nearly three decades focused on one industry, by choice. It means the platform reflects how transloading has actually changed over the years, and it means you are signing on with a stable partner who will still be here long after you go live.
How long does it take to get up and running?
Most customers go live in four to twelve weeks. Where you land in that range depends on the complexity of your yard and how many integrations you need. We handle configuration, data migration, and team training, so you are never figuring it out on your own. The goal is a rollout that fits your operation rather than a rushed switch that leaves gaps in week one.
Will it work with our TMS, ERP, and accounting systems?
Almost certainly yes. We integrate with the major TMS, ERP, accounting, and customer portal systems that transloaders rely on, and we build custom connections through our API when you need something specific. If you are running an unusual or in-house system, tell us early. We have connected to a wide range of setups over the years, and we will tell you up front exactly what an integration would require.
What devices does it run on, and do we need special hardware?
No special hardware required. ATS runs in the browser, so your team can use it from any desktop, laptop, tablet, or phone with an internet connection, and mobile inspections are designed to work in the field on the device crews already carry. You also choose how it is hosted: a fully managed cloud setup, or on-site hosting on your own servers if that better suits your security or infrastructure needs. Either way, you can roll out without buying scanners or proprietary terminals.
How is our data kept secure?
Your data lives in secure, access-controlled cloud infrastructure with encrypted connections, regular backups, and role-based permissions, so people see only what their job requires. Because everything sits in one platform instead of scattered across local spreadsheets and email threads, you actually gain control and a clear audit trail you did not have before. If your customers or insurers have specific security requirements, we will walk you through how we meet them.
How is it priced?
Pricing is a subscription, scaled to your operation by the number of yards, users, and features you need. Implementation is quoted separately, so you can see exactly what you are paying for setup versus ongoing use, with no surprises after you sign. We build the quote around your actual operation rather than pushing you toward a tier that does not match how you work.
Can we see it before we commit?
Yes. We run a guided demo built around your operation, usually thirty to forty-five minutes, so you see the platform working with scenarios that look like your yard. We do not offer a generic self-serve trial, because the software is configured to your setup, and a blank, unconfigured version would not show you what you would actually run day to day. The demo is the honest preview.
What support and training do we get after go-live?
Support does not stop at go-live. Your team gets hands-on training during rollout and ongoing access to our support team afterward, along with regular product updates as we add features. Because we work in one industry, the people you reach understand transloading and speak your language, so you are not explaining yard operations to a generic help desk every time you call.
